In 2011, it was reported that children as young as 14 were working in Zara factories in Bangladesh. The workers were allegedly paid low wages and required to work long hours. Some of the workers said they were beaten if they refused to work overtime.
In 2012, a report surfaced that claimed Zara was using child labor in Turkey. The claim was made by a former employee who said she saw children as young as 12 working in the factory.
The employee also claimed that the workers were not given proper safety equipment and that they suffered injuries that weren’t compensated.
